Slow, gurgling, or fully blocked
A sink or shower that drains slowly today is often one that stops draining entirely tomorrow. Get it looked at in English before it becomes a bigger job.
Signs worth acting on
In the shower, water sitting around your ankles instead of draining as you wash — a clear sign of a partial blockage.
A gurgling noise from the drain, or from another drain nearby, often means air is trapped behind a blockage further down.
Trapped, stagnant water in a partially blocked pipe often smells before the drain stops working completely.
If the kitchen sink and the bathroom are both slow at the same time, the blockage is likely further along a shared pipe.
What we do
Most blockages clear with the right tool and technique without needing to take the pipework apart. If the plumber does need to open something up — usually only for an older or more stubborn blockage — they'll tell you before doing it, not after. Either way, the price is confirmed with you first.
Prevention
A blocked drain in Paris is often down to the building, not bad habits: in older Parisian buildings especially, narrower pipework means grease, hair and food waste build up faster than you'd expect. A drain that's slow once a year is normal wear; one that's slow every few weeks is worth mentioning to us so we can check whether there's a recurring cause rather than treating each blockage as a one-off.
The right tool, not the biggest one
A drain snake or the right chemical treatment clears most blockages in one visit — we don't reach for anything more invasive unless it's genuinely needed.
