Blocked, rising or overflowing
A toilet that won't flush is stressful enough without explaining it in a second language. Tell us what's happening in English — we'll get it sorted.
First, one important thing
If the bowl is already close to the rim, another flush can push it over the edge and onto the floor. Turn off the water to the toilet if you can reach the valve behind or beside it, and wait for us rather than trying a second or third flush "just in case".
Common causes
The most common cause by far, especially in older Parisian buildings with narrower waste pipes than you might be used to.
Wipes, cotton pads and similar products don't break down the way toilet paper does, even when labelled flushable.
Sometimes the toilet itself is fine and the blockage sits further along the shared waste pipe — worth checking if more than one fixture is affected.
Some older toilets have a narrower internal trap that blocks more easily than modern fittings — not something you did wrong.
What we do
Every blocked toilet call in Paris gets the same treatment: we don't just clear the immediate blockage and leave. The plumber checks the waste pipe while they're there, so you're not calling again in three days for the same thing — and explains what caused it in plain English, so you know whether it's a one-off or worth keeping an eye on.
No guesswork
We don't guess and hope. The plumber identifies where the blockage actually is before starting, so you're not paying for a second visit a few days later.
